News from around the net describes how a Chinese girl, a local of the Hainan province, ran & finished a 2,212 mile journey from her home to Beijing to show support for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Surrounded by local & international press and controversies of whether it is appropriate for the father to allow his daughter to run everyday in an almost inhuman feat.The father was criticized for subjecting her daughter to such hardship but defended he did not force her to do such long journey just to show support for the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
The reed thin girl finished the course from Hainan to Beijing, almost the same length as traveling from Seattle, Washington to Indianapolis, Indiana. Chinese sports authority admitted that this was indeed a very hard thing to do even for normal adults.
