2008 Olympic Cities - Beijing The Host City

Beijing, The Capital Of Modern China is the main stage for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. It is where much anticipated National Stadium is located. Fondly called " The Bird's Nest, The 91,000-seat building will host the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad as well as track and field and the football finals. Beijing is also where the National Aquatics Center is located. Standing right next to the National Stadium, it will be the site for Olympics Swimming, Diving, Synchronized Swimming competitions. An amazing feature about this site is looks like a building covered in gigantic bubbles and will actually be able to release bubble balloons once it is fully operational. The shooting sport of the 2008 Paralympic Games will also be held in the venue. The Wukesong Indoor Stadium is also in Beijing. It is the site for the Basketball competition. The Laoshan Velodrome is the site for Cycling track competition. It is located in the Shijinshan District of Beijing. The Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park is the site for the Rowing, Canoe/Kayak games. It is located in the Shunyi District of Beijing. The sport od Wrestling will be held in the China Agricultural University Gymnasium located in the East Campus of the China Agricultural University in Beijing. The Table Tennis venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics is the Peking University Gymnasium. A very popular sport for the Chinese, the site can accommodate a max of 8,000 spectators. The martial arts competition for Judo and Taekwondo will be held in the University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium located in University of Science and Technology Beijing. Tennis competition will be held in the Olympic Green Tennis Center also in Beijing. The Olympic Sports Center Stadium is for the Modern Pentathlon (running and equestrian). The Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium is going to be for the Handball competition in Beijing. The Workers' Stadium located in Gongti Rd., Chaoyang District, Beijing is going to be the Football competition venue. For Boxing, it will be Workers' Indoor Arena located in the same street of Gonti Road. Volleyball competition will be in The Capital Indoor Stadium located in Baishi Bridge, Haidian District, Beijing.
