Marcos Antonio Torres - Second Top Voted Olympic Torch Bearer

Western Union
October 14, 2007 should be a victorious day for the Philippines. It is the day that the votes for the Olympic Torch bearers have all been counted in. Our boy Marcos Antonio Torres, with the help of our very own Pinoy blogger community, has emerged the second top voted candidate! It is a joyous occasion to see our efforts pay off finally. I have personally seen his campaign start at with a lowly 500 plus votes while his co-nominees are at 3,000 plus votes already. And now, if the votes he got was the only criteria, he would be a shoe-in torch bearer for the Beijing Olympics already! I'm also glad to see that GMA-7 has finally recognized the Pinoy bloggers effort to help Marco Antonio Torres in his Olympic bid in their website.

The top voted candidate is Jenny Bowen of the U.S. with 14,1888 followed closely with less than 900 votes by Marco Torres with 13,342, third is Mary Atkeson of U.S.A getting 13,256, fourth place is Germany's Werner Ebel who got 12,849 and fifth place is American Paul Condrell with 11,868. Marcos Torres is now in a very good position to capture 1 of 8 Olympic torch bearer slots the Chinese Olympic organizers have alloted for foreigners living in China. The roster of 8 Official Olympics Torch Bearers shall be determined by the Chinese organizers in February 2008.

Goodluck Marco! You can do it!
