Team Australia ties Canada 2-2 to advance to the Quarterfinals
The Matildas came through again. This time booking a quarterfinals seat at the 2007 Women's Soccer World Cup. Even by just drawing this match against the Canadians, the Australian women had enough points to advance to the knock-out phase of the competition. The Canadians, however, failed to come through because they needed to beat the Australian women in order to advance. Goals by team captain Cheryl Salisbury and Collete McCullum did it for Australia who will now await who their next opponents be. On the Canadians side, Melissa Tancredi and Christine Sinclair scored a goal each.
