Mixed Results in FIFA Women's World Cup 2007

With the Australians holding off Norway 1-1 & Team Brazil blanked the Chinese women's soccer team 4-0, I would have to say the favorites had their day today. In the second match for the day, the Norwegians were cruising along with a one goal lead against the Matildas but late heroics of Striker Lisa De Vanna that evened up the score for both teams. It was a heart-breaker for the Norwegian women's soccer team as they were hoping to secure v spot at the quarterfinals with the possible win but Collette McCallum, Lisa De Vanna and Player of the match Heather Garriock all created a team effort to salvage a draw.

On the other match scheduled, the Brazil Selencao proved too much for the host Chinese women's Football team as they rallied four consecutive goals in an unbelievvble short amount of time, just in the final 7 minutes. The Brazil women's soccer team will now informally enter & have secured the quarterfinals seat for this year's FIFA Women's World Cup. I'd say informally because there are some matches still awaiting to be played. Particularly their own match-up against the Danish women's soccer team on the 19th of august.
