Thought to be little known to many, The Special Olympics or The Paralympic Games is also going to be held in Beijing China in 2008. The exact dates are September 6 to 17, 2008. There are 23 Sport competition for the handicapped. The first Special Olympics was held in Rome in 1960, 12 years after Sir Ludwig Guttmann began holding sport competitions for war veterans who obtained injuries in World War II. The Special Olympics has been gaining ground for popularity in the past few years and it is estimated that next year's Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games will be the biggest & most popular in the competition's history.Recommended Books to Read:
