2008 Olympics Volleyball Qualifying Tournaments

Volleyball competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing will be held from August 9, 2008 to August 24, 2008. Indoor volleyball events will be held at Capital Indoor Stadium and Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium. Beach volleyball competitions will be held at the Beach Volleyball Ground at Chaoyang Park. Only the 12 best men's volleyball teams & 12 best women's volleyball teams in the world will get a ticket to the 2008 Olympics volleyball competition.

The favorites on this Olympic event for men are Brazil, Russia, Netherlands, Germany & home team China. Brazil is on the top of the Current Volleyball standings for men with 5,140 points. While The favorites on this Olympic event for women are Brazil, The U.S., China, Germany & Greece. Surprisingly the Brazil women's volleyball team is also in the top of their corresponding standings. Federation Internationale de Volleybal l is the official governing body for the Sport of Volleyball. They have scheduled several Volleyball Olympics qualifying tournaments. Japan will host the 2007 FIVB Men's World Cup on November 16 to 30, 2007 in Tokyo. The top 3 in this competition will be getting their automatic entry to the 2008 Olympics. The next Olympics Volleyball Qualifying Tournament after this event will be the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in Izmir, Turkey on January 7-13, 2007 & next is the African Olympic Qualification Tournament in South Africa on February 1-10, 2008.

For the women's side, the 2007 FIVB Women's World Cup on November 1 to 15, 2007 in Nagoya. The top 3 in this competition will be getting their automatic entry to the 2008 Olympics. Next is the North American Olympic Qualification Tournament in Monterey, Mexico. The third competition in line will be the European Olympic Qualification Tournament
in Halle, Germany.

For Beach Volleyball, the top 24 teams in the rankings will participate in the Olympics beach volleyball competition as long as all continents are represented next year.
