The 2008 Beijing Olympics Men's Soccer Qualifiers

Less than half of the 16 participants for the 2008 Olympics Soccer competition in Beijing China are already assured of playing. Soccer Teams from China, Brazil, Serbia, Italy, the Netherlands, Argentina and Belgium are the first 7 to qualify via their performance in the sanctioned competitions for the Olympics qualifiers.

As the host country, China gained automatic participation. Brazil and Argentina won their own seat at the Olympics with their first and second place finish at the South American U-20 Championship in Paraguay last January 2007. While the Soccer Teams from Serbia, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium have qualified through the UEFA U-21 Championship 2007 last 10-23 of June 2007.

The rest of the qualifiers will be determined by the competitions yet to be played. The CONCACAF, the AFC third round, the OFC and the CAF third round are the tournaments that are either still ongoing or have yet to be scheduled. The playing rules for the tournament are set on the Regulations Of The Olympic Football Tournaments document.
